Naturally occurring blue topaz is very rare so clear topaz is heat treated to create the beautiful blue colours that are readily available. The two dominant colours produced are Swiss Blue; a bright blue topaz with a light tone and moderate saturation, and London Blue; a darker blue topaz with a moderate to dark tone and saturation.
Topaz should be cleaned carefully with warm soap and water, never steam cleaned or placed in an ultrasonic cleaner, as it may crack.
